History

St. Joseph Hospital, located at 4295 Hempstead Turnpike, Bethpage, New York 11714, is a community hospital that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical, critical care and surgical services. Its Emergency Department cares for approximately 34,000 patients a year. Other vital services include an Ambulatory Surgery Unit, The Center for Sleep Medicine, Hyperbaric and Wound Healing Center, a Balance Center, an endoscopy unit, The Center for Speech and Swallowing Disorders, a Diabetes Education Center, a full scope of outpatient radiology services, including CT scanner, MRI and nuclear camera.

St. Joseph became a member of Catholic Health Services (CHS) of Long Island in early 2010. CHS is an integrated health care delivery system which includes six hospitals, three skilled nursing facilities, a regional home health agency, hospice and a multiservice, community-based agency for persons with special needs. Under the sponsorship of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, CHS serves hundreds of thousands of Long Islanders each year, providing care that extends from the beginning of life to helping people live their final years in comfort, grace and dignity.

St. Joseph Hospital is a member of the Nassau/Suffolk Hospital Council and the Long Island Health Network created to work together to lower health care costs and maintain local access to quality care to the communities they serve. The hospital is accredited by JCAHO, the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and Approved by the New York State Department of Health.
