The Admitting Department takes information from patients and prepares a chart that follows the patient throughout the hospital stay. Patients are also given a folder with patient information concerning Patient Rights, Advanced Directives and hospital services.
Insurance billing information must be provided within 24 hours, especially on an Inpatient admission, to ensure that timely notification is made to your insurance carrier. Failure to notify them can result in payment delays or the entire service being denied.
If you do not have any insurance coverage, you may qualify for benefits under a Federal or State entitlement program. Additionally, the hospital offers a community assistance program called Charity Care. If you believe that you may be eligible for Charity Care, and you do not have medical insurance, please contact the Financial Counselor's office at (516) 520-2507 for more information.
