Welcome to Catholic Health

As a faith-based health care system, we are unique in our region. Our sense of mission guides the way we engage with our patients, their families and members of the communities we serve.

We are based and focused exclusively on Long Island, and we’re blessed to have many of the finest physicians, nurses and support staff across Nassau and Suffolk counties. You can be assured we deliver outstanding medical, surgical and technological expertise to all those who seek our care.

With six acute care hospitals, three nursing homes, a home care service, hospice and an extensive network of physician practices, Catholic Health offers Long Islanders a wide range of services, all driven by a singular commitment to care for our patients as we would our own families. Simply put, our culture cherishes your humanity.

Across all of our facilities, you’ll experience comforting confidence centered around our most important goal—your health and well-being.

That positive patient experience isn’t limited to our facilities. You can also access it from the comfort of your home through our telehealth and home care services. Our physicians and care staff can engage with you in your home, either with in-person clinical care or remotely via your phone or computer.

Employing the same commitment to patient convenience, we offer ambulatory surgery for several procedures—from orthopedic to oncologic—at state-of-the-art facilities outside the hospital setting. You can have surgery in the morning and dinner at home. Similarly, our integrated multispecialty practices continue to expand across Long Island. Catholic Health delivers superb care wherever it’s needed.

We are recognized for excellence year after year. St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center®, our flagship, has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a national leader in Cardiology & Heart Surgery no less than 14 times—more than any other hospital on Long Island in this specialty. The cardiovascular expertise that St. Francis Heart Center is known for is now available across Nassau and Suffolk counties, both at our Catholic Health hospitals and our associated practices. Wherever you live on Long Island, St. Francis Heart Center is minutes away.

U.S. News & World Report has also ranked St. Francis as a national leader in Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Neurology & Neurosurgery, and Orthopedics.

The Catholic Health Cancer Institute, accessible at four locations across Long Island, is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

St. Charles Hospital has received Joint Commission Advanced Certification for its Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement Programs. St. Charles is also accredited for inpatient and outpatient medical rehabilitation for both adults and children, including pediatric rehabilitation specialty programs, brain injury specialty programs and stroke rehabilitation specialty programs.

All six Catholic Health hospitals have been awarded the NYS Stroke Center designation, as well as the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA) Get With The Guidelines® (GWTG) Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.

Catholic Health's three nursing homes have been highly recognized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Several of our hospitals have earned The Leapfrog Group’s ‘A’ grade for patient safety in their semi-annual reviews.

Perhaps the most telling indication of our culture of compassion is that Catholic Health has twice been recognized nationally by Modern Healthcare as among the Best Places to Work, the only New York State provider so honored.

Our many awards and recognitions reflect our commitment to our Catholic Health mission, which serves as the foundation for all we do:

We, at Catholic Health, humbly join together to bring Christ's healing mission and the mission of mercy of the Catholic Church expressed in Catholic health care to our communities.

Our mission statement informs and enriches our approach to patient care. Our patients know they will be treated with the utmost respect and given the finest care on Long Island. That’s the Catholic Health difference.

So you can see that all of us at Catholic Health hold to a very deep and abiding commitment. We’re here for you, Long Island—mind, body and soul.

We wish you the very best of health.
