St Joseph Hospital's Relationship with ACLD

A Mutually Beneficial Relationship

Since the beginning of last year, St. Joseph has been blessed by having a relationship with the Adults & Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD) in Bethpage. The ACLD is a not-for-profit agency that serves the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Part of the program ACLD offers the people they serve includes recreation and art therapies. St. Joseph has been the recipient of handmade coloring books for both adult patients and young children who may be visiting or waiting in the emergency room. The ACLD has also given the hospital colorful book marks, beautifully decorated pens, and greeting cards – all handmade by the creative people attending ACLD.

The items they donate are not only a huge benefit to St. Joseph but also give the people attending ACLD a great feeling knowing that their items are being enjoyed by people in the hospital. The smiles on people’s faces is a great indication of the joy these handmade pieces bring.
